In thinking of creative ways to do nachos, I wanted to play with hummus as a replacement for sour cream (something I’m not a fan of). Then I figured, why stop there! Let’s make the whole recipe a play on greek substitutes, down to swapping in lamb.
The end result is too good… no really, I was amazed at how well it came out. Like a standard nacho recipe, it’s the combination of already amazing dishes. Then once blended, it becomes a plate for the Gods …of Olympus …or your living room.
Greek Nachos with Lamb Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb ground lamb
- 1/2 cup feta cheese
- 1/2 cup greek salsa (try our greek salsa recipe!)
- 1/2 cup roasted garlic and caramelized onion hummus (try this recipe for hummus!)
- 1/2 cup spinach
- 1 lemon
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp italian seasoning
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- Serve with Tortilla Chips (you can try our easy baked tortilla recipe here!)
Directions –
Heat olive oil, juice from lemon, and all of the seasonings in a pan on medium heat, just until fragrant. Mince your garlic and add it to the pan for about a minute. Then add your lamb and brown until meat is done.
While meat is cooking, lay your nachos out on your plate. This is also the ideal time to take your spinach and finely cut it. Prep your toppings, the salsa and hummus, if you plan to make them fresh… or just get out your jars!
When the meat is done cooking, drain and add while hot over the chips. Next, crumble your feta on top and then the spinach. Top with greek salsa and dollops of the hummus.
This recipe is so good… you may not go back to regular nachos. Always looking for recipes with lamb, because it’s so tasty, this just may become a staple and great excuse to stock up on lamb!
