This pizza is fresh, quick and loaded with flavor. Grab all the green stuff from your garden and get to chopping!
1-2 Green Tomatoes
2 Long Hot Peppers
3 Cloves of Garlic
1/2 Large Onion
1/4 lb Mozzarella Cheese
15 Basil Leaves
1/2 – 1 tbsp of Olive Oil
Pizza Shell of your choosing (I like mine as thin as possible!)
Preheat your oven as directed with your pizza shell. Spread the olive oil over the shell and then top with 3/4 of the mozzarella. Set to the side until ready.
For the Veggies:
- Slice your green tomatoes into half moons.
- Slice the peppers into rings.
- Slice the onion into slivers.
- Crush and mince your garlic.
- Roll your basil up and slice as thin as possible.
- If using sliced mozzarella, slice into thin strips.
Now layer your pizza: first with half of the garlic, tomatoes, onion, basil, remaining garlic and cheese. Pop it in the oven for about 10 minutes and voila! A fresh tasty pizza in no time. The green tomatoes are a little firmer and more acidic than their red elders. This adds a little bite, texturally and flavor wise, to the pizza. It’s a crisp, fresh slice of garlicky, cheesy heaven that goes down smooth with a good beer. Pizza and beer will have never tasted so good!
