Looking for a quick and filling snack…or something to soak up all the alcohol from a way to fun evening?!!? Well this bread, you make on the stove not in, is perfect! You can adjust the sweetness and flavors as you like. It’s like a pancake… on redbull!
Skillet Bread Recipe
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp butter (in two pieces)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Directions
In a bowl mix all your dry ingredients well. Slowly add in water and mix.
In a skillet set to medium low, add 1/2 tbsp butter and all the olive oil. Then pour in your ‘dough’. Let it cook for about 5 minutes or until you see air bubbles coming through and you can safely lift and turn.
Lift the bread and add the other 1/2 tbsp of butter and move it around the pan. Flip your bread and cook the other side for about 5 minutes. Keep an eye…and nose… on it. Since the pan has been on the stove for a while, it is much hotter and the second side cooks faster. You don’t want burnt bread…though it’s still tasty! You can eat as is or slather jam, jelly, cheese, cream cheese, whatever you want on it.
*Note – This works best with a sturdier skillet. Cast iron or a thick bottomed stainless steel one.
