Popcorn is the center of a healthy diet. Or at least that’s what we continually convince ourselves.
So like – this is simple. And you’ll be happy when you do it. This is the reason you save all that rendered bacon, to make delicious, sweet and salty popcorn.
Here’s a terrifying video of how to listen for your pops. You have to audibly hear those first pops to know the oil is ready. Then toss and shake!
Yield: 1 single serving
- 1/4 cup of popcorn
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of bacon fat
- optional bacon bits (the real ones)
Heat bacon fat in a thick bottomed stovetop pan. Add three kernels. Wait to hear pops. Then add remaining popcorn kernels. Shake rapidly as popping sounds increase. Pause to add sugar and continue shaking vigorously. When 4 seconds pass with no pops, you’re good. Pour out into a large bowl, ready to serve. Toss with bacon bits for added flavor and texture.
